I recently secured the venue and date for the third annual Aire & Ease Women’s Mental Health & Wellness Experience: June 12, 2027. Even writing that sentence feels big. I can already picture women walking into the room, seeing the details, finding their seats, meeting somebody new, laughing, breathing, and realizing that the day was created with them in mind. But before I move straight into the next list—and you know I can make a list—I want to pause long enough to notice what this moment means.
It started smaller than the vision in my head
Aire & Ease did not begin with a large venue, a big team, or every answer. It grew from the work I was already doing through Aire Counseling and from something I kept seeing: women needed care and connection outside the therapy room too. They needed spaces that felt warm, approachable, honest, and human. Places where wellness could include conversation, but also candles, canvas painting, music, flowers, movement, food, laughter, and simply being around women who understood.
Some of the earliest experiences were small client groups where we made candles or painted canvases. They were simple, but they showed me something important. When women feel safe enough to settle in, connection can happen around an ordinary table. Nobody needs a perfect speech. Sometimes our hands stay busy, somebody laughs first, and little by little the room becomes easier to breathe in.
That feeling became the foundation for Aire & Ease: Aire to breathe. Ease to simply be. Not a conference where you have to network perfectly. Not group therapy. Not another obligation. A real community-wellness experience where women can be poured back into.
I have been carrying the cost because I believed in the need
I have funded much of this work personally because I believed the women in our community deserved it. I wanted the food to be good, the activities to feel thoughtful, the room to be beautiful, and the experience to be accessible to women who may not always choose themselves. I did not want to wait until every sponsor, resource, or connection was in place before doing something meaningful.
There is pride in knowing I started with what I had. There is also honesty in saying that a growing vision needs more than one woman’s pockets, time, and energy. Funding something alone can prove that you are serious, but it should not become the price you pay forever for caring deeply.
Asking for support does not make the mission less genuine. It gives the mission room to continue. Sponsorship can help cover the venue, food, materials, guest care, activities, sponsored seats, and the details that tell a woman, before she even sits down, that somebody thought about her. Vendors and community partners can bring skills and experiences I could never create by myself. Volunteers can turn a warm idea into a welcome people can actually feel.
Growth can feel exciting and a little scary
Our last annual experience grew beyond the first one. The October Sister Circle sold out. The 2027 goal is to welcome even more women into a larger room. That is beautiful—and it asks me to think differently. The plan has to become more sustainable. The invitation has to reach farther. The story has to be clear enough that sponsors understand what their support means for a woman in the community, not only what logo placement they receive.
Sometimes we pray, plan, and work for growth, then feel nervous when it arrives. A bigger opportunity can make us wonder whether we are ready, whether people will understand the vision, or whether we can keep the thing feeling personal. I do not want Aire & Ease to become bigger and colder. I want it to become bigger and still feel like somebody saved you a seat.
That is the standard I am carrying into our next room. More women, more partners, and more possibilities—but the same heart. Ayesha’s lived experience. Aire Counseling’s commitment to care. Real Dothan relationships. Thoughtful details. Room for both honest reflection and loud laughter. The size can change without the purpose disappearing.
The dream needs people who understand the why
The right support is not only financial. It is a local business that shares the invitation with women who need it. A sponsor who understands that products, refreshments, or a named experience can help someone feel welcomed. A vendor who sees guests as a community, not simply customers. A volunteer who notices the woman standing by herself and offers a warm hello. A past guest who tells a friend, ‘You should come with me next time.’
This is why the story matters. Aire & Ease is not built around making something look impressive. It is built around how a woman feels when she enters the room and how she carries that feeling home. Support helps create a day where she can step outside her roles, receive something for herself, and connect without pressure.
If you are building something, the people who join you do not need to do everything exactly the way you would. They do need to understand what must be protected. For Aire & Ease, we protect respect, warmth, privacy, choice, accessibility, and the truth that community wellness should never pretend to be clinical care. When the values are clear, the work can be shared without losing its identity.
Let the good news land before you make another list
My mind can move quickly from ‘We secured the venue!’ to ‘Now we need the budget, sponsor packets, vendor applications, seating plan, production timeline, ticket strategy, and about forty-seven other things.’ Planning matters. But I do not want responsibility to rush me past gratitude.
Something I once pictured is becoming real in a larger way. A room has been secured for June 12, 2027. Women have already shown through sold-out gatherings, signups, volunteer interest, emails, and conversations that they want this kind of community. That deserves a pause.
Maybe your dream is at a different stage. You may be choosing the name, saving the first dollar, telling one safe person, filling out the application, or trying again after disappointment. Do not dismiss a small beginning because you can already see how far there is to go. And when the next door opens, do not make yourself sprint through it so fast that you never feel proud.
I am making room to receive
This season is asking me to keep building, but it is also asking me to receive: support, partnership, visibility, ideas, resources, and people who believe in what Aire & Ease can mean for this community. Receiving does not erase the work I have done. It honors the fact that the work is ready to reach farther.
I can be the founder and still need a team. I can have a clear vision and still listen. I can protect the heart of the experience and still allow other people to bring their gifts. I can want the event to make a profit and still care deeply about accessibility, sponsored women, and community impact. Sustainability and service do not have to be enemies.
The dream is getting bigger. I am not shrinking it to keep it easier to carry alone. I am learning to build the support around it, tell the fuller story, and leave room for people who want to help bring it to life.
A bigger room does not have to mean a different heart. It can mean more women welcomed, more care shared, and more people invited to help carry something meaningful. What dream are you ready to stop making small enough to hold alone?
What are you ready to receive as your life or dream grows?
Name one kind of support, opportunity, celebration, or help you are willing to welcome.
